Project Overview: China Millennium Monument is a sundial commemorative architecture, which stands on the extension of west Changn'an Street in Beijing, covering an area of 4.5 hectares with 35,000 square meters of gross floor area. It is comprised of major structure, bronze corridor, holy flame square, pedestrian bridge, century hall, and art hall. China Millennium Monument was built to usher in the new millennium of the 21st century.
The major structure of China Millennium Monument has two floors underground and three floors on the ground. It is 39 meters in height and 85 meters in diameter, consisting of static winding corridor and revolving monument which is tilting by 19°. The revolving monument weighs 3,200 tons, which is the largest and heaviest revolving monument in the world. It revolves on tracks. The mechanical structure of the revolving gear has 1,900 components. The outside walls of it are engraved with 56 ethnic symbol decors and carved on beige granite. There are 40 bronze portrait sculptures of "China's Cultural Celebrities" in the winding corridor.
